PuppetOOdle, Canberra’s latest puppet-business, has booked out the latest round of school holiday programs at ACT libraries in almost 24hours!
PuppetOOdle will present puppet shows and ‘make your own puppet’ workshops at Belconnen Library ACT – 12 July, 2pm and Kingston Library ACT – 21 July, 2pm. Although programs are booked out – please check the bookings pages regularly in case of cancellations.
Local artist, musician and puppeteer/puppet-maker, Marianne Mettes, has had an incredible year so far. After launching her puppet business “PuppetOOdle”, Marianne has been busy entertaining children at Puppet Parties, Library Holiday programs and now, she’ll be bringing her furry friends into our local schools!
Armed with glue, googly eyes and a bucket-full of passion, Marianne will be an ‘Artist in Residence’ working at Isabella Plains Early Childhood School to create an exciting puppet-filled third term which will focus on “Communication through Puppetry”.
During her program, Marianne will not only explore puppet-making, manipulating and performance with students, but also use puppetry as a way to teach better communication and creative thinking. Marianne also aims to involve the community and leave teachers and parents with valuable skills and methods of teaching, connecting with children and strengthening and building relationships in a new and creative ways.
